This story and the armed cop were on FOX news last night, great story and this cop is no slouch!!!

That explains it.

Several news outlets are reporting this story. I find local news stories online..

NBC10 Philadelpia News

.

Philly Gas Station Now Armed With Guards

.

A Philly gas station does not want to take chances with the increasing crime, so management decided to employ armed guards. NBC10’s Johnny Archer speaks with the gas station’s owner..

I've seen the story on ABC news Channel 6 out of Philadelphia--repeatedly.

All broadcasts seem to start off with shootings in Philly.  Not mass shootings, just one or two people at a time.

But homicides are down by 8 or 9% there from last year, there's only been 480 so far, as of yesterday.  Not all were shootings.

I'm afraid for the armed guards, they are standing targets for drive by shooters.  Lots of them in Philly.  And they don't care who is in the line of fire.  Don't care a bit.

I, too,  support this man's actions.  It's sad that we must take our own actions to protect ourselves, but you do what you need to do.  Folks living around where I live have been in this situation for a long time and take actions to protect ourselves.  Starting with secured fences, lots of outside lighting, cameras and self defense weapons.  You know the police aren't going to get here quickly and that is just reality for us.

I would definitely go to this place of business.

There is a WAWA across from the Q studios, I remember seeing it when we visited.

@hckynutjohn  In Oct. all the WaWa stores (2) left Center City (downtown) in Philly lock, stock & barrell.  In the rest of the city, night hours has been drastically reduced.

Also, within the past few days this law has been passed:   Permanent 10 p.m. curfew for children and teens under the age of 18 in Philadelphia.

Can't blame them for packing up from certain areas. Anymore I wonder if new laws will help anything. Seems like the police have to work with 1 arm tied behind their backs. Then they arrest them, and little if any, prosecution happens after. Many of these broken laws are more than "staying out passed curfew".

Things of this nature are pretty sad!

The first thing I'd do is to get a dog. A BIG dog. A dog who knows what it means when you say, 'get him, boy!' And if that didn't work I'd get a weapon (with a permit) and if the guy didn't stop when I told him to I'd shoot him in the foot. (this will prevent his trying it at other stores). I of course would have the whole thing on camera so I can prove ("He started it!") like I always told my parents when my brother and I were fighting. I'm an old hand at this!

Unfortunately, this is becoming necessary.  Stores closing or having to hire security companies because they can't protect their merchandise.  One wonders at what point real changes will be enacted to protect our country,

@phoenixbrd I'll tell you when real changes will come.  When the inmates are no longer running the aslyum.

What good are curfews if there's no one to enforce them?

It's sad that our country has come to this. Whatever happened to honesty? Character? Respecting your fellow man?
