@raspberrygal   They sure look "spiffy", but over dressed for a garden party we'd have in the US.

Re: Garden party May 20

I really love those garden party's every year.  The shoes on the Royal ladies are amazing.  Zara wore a pair last year I yearned for.

The King and Queen hosted two last week this one the Prince and Princess of Wales and the cousins hosted.

Catherine with Holocaust survivor Steven Frank. They first meet in 2020 for the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz.

Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, and Zara Tindall, also appropriately turned out:

There is a natural grace, kindness and joy to Princess Catherine.  Her warmth comes through naturally.  It is inborn in her and shines through to all she meets.

The Prince & Princess of Wales are a beautiful couple, present themselves as a warm, caring single unit.  They have been through so much this past year and a half; I wish them the joy of length of years as long & enduring as Queen Elizabeth & Price Phillip.

Philadelphia, as a very historic city, has been able to host many royals over the centuries.

I was actually at a wonderful garden party very similar to this where Prince Andrew was one of the guests, here in Philadelphia at the Morris Arboretum for the Commonwealth Festival.  This was a while back, before all his scandals.

It was a beautiful affair, late afternoon/early evening, and yes, we all dressed like the British with lovely outfits, heels, hats, suits, etc.  Quite elegant, but Philadelphia has a lot of these formal traditions still remaining.

Andrew was very nice, and shook hands with everybody.

Charles and Camilla attended our Academy of Music white tie gala in 2007. She wore a two million dollar ruby necklace (probably worth more now!).

Prince Albert of Monaco has been to Philadelphia frequently, and one of our Flower shows even featured (a replica) of Princess Grace's wedding dress!

Cunard cruises still offer a taste of the high British lifestyle, if you want to try it out.

My favorite hotel is all of Great Britain is Cliveden, where dressing for dinner is still expected. Meghan Markle stayed there before her wedding.  I hope to return in the near future.

@Shanus  Then I guess it was a good thing it was an English style garden party they hosted.
