Gall Bladder removal question

My DH is possibly having his gall bladder removed due stones w/ very painful attacks. He is hearing nightmares about life after the surgery--- Major digestive issues.

He is now thinking about just totally changing his eating habits and not having it removed.

Has anyone had their gall bladder removed and gone on to live a normal life, digestively speaking??

We are meeting w/ the surgeon tomorrow, so I'm not looking for medical advice, just want to hear about experiences.
