Re: Gadgets - Unique, Unusual or Useful -U noticed

@JoyFilled Warrior

Yes the Google home has 911 capabilities and yes as long as Google can hear you, you can be anywhere in the house and holler "call 911".  I have followed twice and didn't think I could get up.  I didn't call 911 but I did holler at to Google to call my husband and wants to call my daughter. 911 didn't used to work with Google but it does now. In fact I accidentally called 911 while setting it up in Google and thought I'd hang up fast enough then it wouldn't make a connection oh but I was wrong. A few seconds later the phone rang and it was 911, "what is your emergency?"  Yikes! These hockey pucks have incredible ears. I don't know what size your house is but you might need more than one.

Alexa has a really cool feature I wish Google would adopt. It's called whisper mode. If you whisper to Alexa she will whisper the answer and it's amazingly clear. I asked her what the weather was like and she whispered the answer.  I don't know why I'm so taken with that feature. I'm sorry about your dad😩 I know that's a scenario that happens more than it should. No buttons to push and no one to physically call, just use the hey Google phrase and then whoever you choose as your emergency contact.

Re: Gadgets - Unique, Unusual or Useful -U noticed

Thanks @monicakm

Such a kewl, super necessary, help for A LOT of people, infirmed, elderly, disabled, ill, recovering, fallen, etc, ppl being home attacked!  (Incl myself now)  Or as you used, calling ppl you love, or for friendly/beloved help! etting up to call any one!

INCREDIBLE Feature.  YEAH!

I can remember the unfathomable struggle to get my very, very proud, Texas born & bred Dad merely to use an Answering Machine, initially.  He HATED IT!   He hated new stuff!  esp, HATED technology!

Then a bit later, it broke, & he panicked, calling me - GET ME ANOTHER ONE!   Hahaha!

My whole life, I was foisting new stuff, new technology on him.  His above initial, & subsequent reactions never changed!  And he knew it was a losing battle to buck me!  I'd always find a way.

I lost more control over these things when I no longer could hop a fast flight any more, and foist these more helpful items on him.  Otherwise, he would NEVER have had that scenario where he'd fallen on the floor, for *any* length of time!

(Love you, my late Dad   Heart)

Happy Day, @Gadget_Lovers  Woman Happy

Just a heads up!

If you have items sitting on your "WishList," anywhere, QVC, HSN, OneStep, elsewhere, (incl Amz), I suggest keeping a keen frequent check on your Wishlist items.

Items are SELLING OUT  FAST!    Esp with these very very very early Black Friday pricing.

I have a full Amz Wishlist, that slides down, grows when I add new Watch items.

I had a #2  critical Hardware item suggested by our Teckie Guru @  @monicakm above, & in short order, *POOF*  it's Sold out already!  And was at a great price.  And I looked long & hard given suggested criteria.  So, back to the Drawing Board.

Another Beauty item, & another Kitty item, both, I really really wanted!  SOLD OUT, FAST.

   OUCH!

People obviously looking for great prices with $$$ to spend!  And grabbing!

Happy day @monicakm

Without checking back for the Teckkie name from our entries here ago, it was what you aptly call the "hockey puck" item  heh.

Was a great price too!!

(added:  OHHH . That's strange!

I would have saved even yesterday's Sold Out one, even to use as a Templet of what you suggested, and I dont see it now.

But what I do see is Two in my Amz Cart now!

One says Alternative Seller, but only 1 left.  And seems a price really increased!  But not Sold Out.

I wonder if Amz replaced yesterdays SOLD OUT one with same, from Alt Seller?

The other one still on my Waitlist is a great deal less expensive currently, but it's Specs might be reduced capability too.

Wait again!   I'll open another  entry here.

I now found (3)of the items that ticked down on my Waitlist.  See below.

1)  https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/81j9wl6WUPL._AC_AA360_.jpg

"The Nest Mini Easy Genie Mount 2nd Gen 2019: The Simplest and Cleanest Outlet Wall Mount Hanger Stand ($21)

2)  https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/71TeLBggnwL.__AC_SX300_SY300_QL70_FMwebp_.jpg

" Google Nest Mini 2nd Generation Smart Speaker with Google Assistant - Charcoal "  $50

3)   https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/61Es9XagxEL._AC_AA360_.jpg

" ***   Google Nest Mini 2nd Gen - Bluetooth Speaker with English and Muliti Language Compatibility for Use Anywhere (Light Gray) $45

This is the one that says  ONLY ONE LEFT now, from Qty 3 only moments ago.

Im guessing that this is the one that was SOLD OUT last night, on my Waitlist, & that this current Qty 1   is what Amz found as a sudden Replacement Seller.

(added comment & corrected mistyped/spelling):

Wait a minute.....   that #1    $21   is the Speaker MOUNT!.   *hits my head*)

I can't get over how expensive these things are now. Check the prices on/at the Walmart.  My store doesn't have any right now but I can order one for $40.  You can go to the official Google Store website and get it for $49 and free shipping. You'll also find them on eBay.  They are a little cheaper on eBay, just be careful who you buy from and look for free shipping. If you were here I would give you one. I inherited all of Mom's Google Minis when she went into assisted living. They just took a Google hub display with them. The only way any specs could be reduced if you were to buy a first generation versus Gen 2. And come to think of it I don't think anything is different between the two models other than audio.  Or do yourself a favor and buy the Google Nest hub second generation. You can find those on eBay from reputable sellers and not much more if any than the hockey puck. I'm surprised Amazon is selling Google products. They are fierce opponents in the Smart Home category. It must be a relatively new development.

Oh @monicakm   !!!

Yikes!

Again, TWO of the above I listed JUST NOW,  *SOLD OUT* again!!

Do you believe it?

And Im not even sure they were on sale price!

Hungry Buyers!

(This is also happening for Beauty items in my Carts too!)  But Teckkie is my Priority.  Woman Happy

So...

Regardless of approx price, I dont dare shop around for the least expensive of *all* these total Home Digitalized, components parts, needed to set this up this finished System.

Also, I dont want to settle for, & waste time at Seller's mistakes.  (ex, wrong item, wrong S&H, wrong used/new,  or due to price, regardless of sale).

I just want availability of the Best of the Best of all these whole system, component parts!

Even, preferably, but not necessarily,  if its an Advanced Technology,  next Generation products, (that have been proven, & pubbed, to have been already Beta tested *&* passed, *then,* been put to market.

I abhor Consumer "Beta Testing" a product for Sellers, "rush to market."  Then endless Install, Upgrade Mod Pkg's.     P's me off!

Not asking much, eh? heh

Okay... Also,   Am looking for "Google Nest" now also.

And the Speaker (hockey puck - love that!)

Ref (above):

"Or do yourself a favor and buy the Google Nest hub second generation."  ((see above)

(This "Google Nest" sounds like the CPU of this whole Digitalized Home System??

All the rest here seem to be component parts hanging off the "Google Nest?"  Is that correct?

Or, pls feel free to correct me if Im wrong, any where along the way here.  k?   Woman Happy

Some of these "Google Nests" are currently on Amz -> ~$100.
