I posted in the other forum. It was OK. I just have the movie ingrained in my mind, and the other performances I've seen have been hs plays. In all of them, Sandy was an exchange student, which I now know was not original to the play.
The performers were all good - OK Vanessa was great, and Aaron can SiNG! But there was no chemistry between Aaron and Julianne, as PUPPY LIPS already said. The kiss at the end of the movie was blah. I loved seeing Didi Conn (the original Frenchy), and I thought Carly Rae Jepsen did a good job as Frenchy. Keke Palmer as Marty seemed miscast, as did Carlos Pena-Vega as Kenickie. I loved Ana Gasteyer (I'm a huge fan of hers) as the Principal, and fun to see Eve Plumb (Jan Brady) as Murdock!
I guess I just have to get over some of the casting!
Next up is Rocky Horror Show with Laverne Cox in the lead. Should be great! ![]()

I thought that one scene she did on the bed singing with the wig on was very good but her dialogue throughout was all wrong...no sass or attitude. She ruined the production, imo.

@Lipstickdiva wrote:I just could not get into this. I remember seeing Grease and loving it and I wanted it done in it's original form, not made PC. I thought it was too long and I grew tired of it.
I heard that the ratings, while good, weren't close to what they were hoping for.
@Lipstickdiva honestly, if they wanted to be PC they should have set it in present day instead of 1959.

I have seen GREASE in many different venues from Movie to Broadway to our local High School production. Love that show and thought the live TV version was so fun! Nothing much else on TV anyway! Nice to see some talent pulling off what they did!
I caught myself smiling through most of it!

Here's Stockard Channing singing Sandra Dee. There is no comparison in the performance. She was magnificent.

Here's the great dance scene from the original Grease movie with Dinah Manoff as Marty.
Again, no comparison in performance.
