This shot went viral soon after it was taken of officers working the Louvre jewels heist:
Although it seems absurd, there was excited talk that the dashing guy on the right, was a police chief ispector on the case, and boy, don't French police have a great sense of style, etc.
Predictably, the Associated Press photographer who took the shot has confirmed that it was just a random French guy walking by, who got caught in the shot with police.
It would have been too good to be true if there were a real Hercule Poirot-type on the force.
But, I say, how cool that a young man has the wit and style, to dress like he stepped out of a Forties' movie-- tipped fefora, vest, umbrella used as walking stick.
I think the other police look great too, dressed as they are for action. But this guy is like a retro cinematic dream figure, ha.
The Paris prosecutor's office was asked by the AP if they would or could identify the young man. They declined, saying "We would rather keep the mystery alive". Only the French!
Fun story.

I love how the police are so chill with the people on the streets. Very peaceful and friendly. Heartwarming.

Pretty natty looking.

@Oznell I love that picture! Thanks for posting.
Now I am going to give a shout out to our own Oklahoma Highway Patrol for dress, manners and good looks! Those guys are always clean, neat, uniforms starched and pressed, shoes shined, hat on just so, and groomed, shaved and scrubbed!
They stay very physically fit, and if stopped by one you have instant respect for them and recognize dedication and authority--not without compassion.
Gotta give them credit here!

I wonder if the Glamore Boy will forever remain a mystery to the public!

Maybe it's the criminal himself. Some criminals love to return to crime scenes to see what is happening.

He must be loving being a mystery man, with all the attention...whoever he is.

@JYWilliams , right, he does look like a model! Wears clothes well.
@Sooner , love your shout out to the OHP! They deserve all credit, presenting themselves in such a professional manner to the public. Law enforcement-- what a taxing, often terribly frustrating and dangerous field to be in. All plaudits to those in it who make us safe, whether in Paris, France, or Paris, Indiana. Love their dedication and service.
@santorini , very shrewd-- you are not the only one who wonders that. It's not far-fetched to think that it's a way of "dissing" the authorities, with an element of danger and discovery, that a criminal might very well enjoy!
I hope he's just a good guy with a taste for swell clothes, though....
