NASCAR: 3D-printing safety splash shields are being made at the NASCAR Research and Development Center in Concord, N.C. NASCAR has joined the effort, using their idled equipment and technology to produce face shields and other needed PPE items for health care workers battling the new coronavirus.
When racing came to a stop March 13 amid the coronavirus pandemic, a handful of NASCAR engineers wondered if the printers could be used to address the shortage of personal protective equipment for health care workers. They contacted suppliers and came up with designs for face shields the printers could make. They met with Novant Health, which serves medical facilities in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia.
Now the printers are running 18 hours a day with approximately eight engineers volunteering their time to oversee production from approximately 7 a.m. until midnight every day.
eta : The five 3D printers at NASCAR's Research and Technology center, two delivered in February and installed less than two weeks ago, are typically focused on composite parts and working on an updated stock car.

@Imaoldhippie Goodness. It’s not healthy to be filled with so much hate. Many famous people have donated and don’t blast it to the world. A little research might help you calm down and show you how wrong you are.

@Imaoldhippie Instead of making an unsubstantiated and incorrect statement -- perhaps you might want to do a bit of research online. Many celebrities have donated very large sums of money. Being a big Broadway fan -- I can also tell you that Broadway stars have been working tirelessly to raise money for the Actor's Fund -- which helps people in every aspect of Broadway theater. The Actor's Fund is there now for a ton of behind the scenes people currently out of work.

So many generous people out there. You won't find me knocking someone's donations no matter where it came from.

Lots of Hollywood actors and singers have donated according to my googling. Justin Bieber, Rihanna. Oh, and Oprah has donated a million towards food in hospitals and millions towards helping people stay in their homes. I can't give a link because I didn't click on any of them and I don't know how to link on my iPad anyway.

Dear friend of mine and his staff spent his day yesterday making pizzas in a mobile oven for the staff of a local hospital, and I have his pizza and is is great

So, weathly people who make it known that they are donating large sums of money are trashed and wealthy people who don't make it known they are donating large sums of money are trashed.
They can't win around here.
Geez.
