I had a little trouble getting home from city band rehearsal last night. First, I came out after rehearsal to find snow and ice on my car (the first snow of the season). I didn't have any gloves with me so had to scrape and brush off the car with no gloves...after digging the brush out of the trunk.

Then I almost did a 180 with my car on the bridge due to black ice.

After getting out of the car and starting to walk to the back door, I noticed two big "kitties" on the back porch. Turns out they were racoons eating the remains of a bird.

Not wanting to mingle with the racoons, I walked around the house to the front door...only to be greeted by a skunk. At that point, I ran out into the road and called my mother who was in the house. I asked her to go to the front door and make a lot of noise to scare off the skunk. She started banging pots and pans together so the skunk would run off, which he did.

Whew...who said that country living is safer than city living?
