@Sooner When @Kachina624 posted the original question, I had this, for lack of better words, flash come to mind that she was wearing a white gown. I had not known, before reading your posts, that she had a few white gowns that she favored and had worn more than once. Makes one wonder if there's something more to the picture flash I had experienced.

Is she in one of her colorful coats with matching hat and little black handbag on her arm. Or perhaps they dress her in some kind of shroud? Maybe she's covered with a brocade blanket of some sort? What else?
I don't suppose there's any reference, not even Google, that would have this information. It's probably secret.
Huh, before I read your post this hadn't even occurred to me. But now I'd really like to know!
As far as the embalming, I just assumed there must be the equivalent of "royal embalmers" who came to wherever she had died once they got the call. Her body doesn't seem to have made any side trips and surely it had to be embalmed by this point, so I'm guessing they came to her?
Two great questions, and not ghoulish at all considering all of the attention the queen's death has garnered.

I am sure that the Queen was embalmed at Balmoral Castle. I read that Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis was embalmed in her apartment in NYC. I am sure the royal family has a funeral home that is used for the Royals and they come to them.

I am sure she pre-planned everythng regarding what she would be wearing in her coffin; perhaps her wedding ring or some other momento from Philip.I would think those involved with the wedding are doing everything they can to meet her wishes for her outfit, hair, etc.

If your ghoulish I don't know what I am because I immediately wonderingif she had been embalmed! I even googled till I found out, I guess it should have been obvious but you never know.
That is actrually a good question and I am surprised it isn't documented anywhere honestly.

Okay, since you posted this interesting question .... I am not trying to out-ghoul you .... but ..... when was the queen embalmed?
Ten days above ground for an un-embalmed body seems very unlikely. Certainly she must also be "preserved" for posterity.
Anyone have any ideas about this?
(Sorry everyone ... don't mean to be gross; it's a serious question).
This is so funny before I read the other replies I replied almost the same thing!

@Tinkrbl44 They don't embalm in the UK.

I guess an open coffin would be out of the question?
She was or wasn't embalmed?
A lead lined coffin. That just seems so toxic to the ground.
I would think she would want to wear one of her pretty dresses w/matching coat. I guess when you're 96 a white night gown/dressing gown would seem comfy to take you into eternity.
