As a mark of respect for the victims of the

attack on police officers perpetrated on
Sunday, July 17, 2016, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana,
a President's Proclamation has been made to
immediately lower all American Flags to
Half-Staff until Sunset, 7/22 (Friday).

Sadly, flags at half staff are getting to be the norm.

I started these threads with the thought Half-Staff Notifications are so far & few, they needed to be highlighted with a special thread.  While I still believe the notifications are important, it just makes my heart hurt when I have to start a new thread.    At this rate, almost 1/2 of July will be lowered flags.

So few people living near me know the rules of flying a flag.   If they have a flag on a pole, they don't have it half staff.    Many keep it out all night without any lights focused on it to illuminate it.   And still others will leave the flag out in a rain storm.

I have just a small flag, but I tape a longer stick to mine to make it half staff when it is required.

People fly flags to show their patriotism, but they need to learn the correct way to display it.

Just a reminder that tonight at sunset,

the American Flag goes back up to Full Staff.
