@songbird

Such a sweet and majestic elephant....

Im kinda unhappy with a wildlife organization I have been giving money to, they seem more concerned about other issues than they do about the animals...maybe Ill check into the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust and switch my donation.....

What a great uplifting photo!!!!!  I know elephants have feelings and show affection and this picture displays that.  The smile on the man's face says it all. Nature gives us all such beautiful animals and we need to respect and treat them with love and kindness.  I believe this Refuge does just that, God bless.

Re: From Sheldrick Wildlife Trust.....

@Spurt   They are different from the usual elephant sanctuary thing.  They rescue baby elephants if they are found in wells, poachers that kill its' parent, etc.  They try to replace elephants one at a time.  They have been very successful.  Almost 200 elephants have been saved by them.  In addition to that, they patrol the parks against poachers (which can be very dangerous....some of the guards have been killed in the past) They have legal solutions with neighboring countries to Kenya.  So the elephants remain safe outside Kenya's borders. The babies after several years are gradually introduced to wild herds.  Wild herds come back to visit and show off the new offspring of the former orphans.  Wild herds come to them, because they know they can safely sleep and drink/feed.
