Friends disappoint you?

My hubby have many people that seem to like us, but have disappointed us many times. Example one friend has even invited us to travel to Europe with them, however when I ask her to go to a local event she seemed encouraged, then a couple of her other friends that are also included talk her out of it. This has happened more than once. Do I just not ask her again, or is she not a confident person? I really like her and her husband but it hurts to think she can't go without these ladies.
