Our time here is short and there is still so much to be done. Lord, please
let me do a little more for You today so that the world may be a little
better because of me.
Scripture for the day:
"Teach me to do your will, for you are my God. Let your good spirit
lead me on a level path. For your name's sake, O LORD, preserve my
life. In your righteousness bring me out of trouble. In your
steadfast love cut off my enemies, and destroy all my adversaries,
for I am your servant." ~Psalm 143:10-12
Meditation for the day:
When we are honestly trying to live the way we believe Gods wants
us to live, we can get guidance from God in times of quiet
communion. We can direct our thoughts toward God's will and all
good thing. The attitude of "Your will be done" leads to clear
guidance. We can act on this guidance and we can be led to better
things. Our impulses can seem to become less our own and more the
leading of God's spirit acting through our thoughts. Obeyed, they
can bring us the answers to our prayers.
Prayer for the day:
I pray that I may try to think God's thoughts after God. I pray
that my thoughts maybe guided by God's thoughts.
Hello my friends! Nothing much new here to report - had another rough night
last night, and I have an appointment to see the doctor for some cough med
with codeine in it. Linus didn't feel good today so he called in sick. On
the positive side, got a nice email from Sister Ladonna, phone calls from
Deil and Lori. Was sad that we both had to miss a great talk at Church
tonight starting off with the Year of Faith. Remembering you all In my
prayers, and thanks for thinking of me/us in yours.
He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. Psalm 147:3
Fixers
I am into fixing things. If something breaks, get out the scotch tape,
superglue, or bandaids. I come from a long line of fixers. We all knew my
dad could fix anthing, from a picture frame that fell apart to a table leg
that had broken. All you had to do was take it to him and you knew he would
get it fixed and back to you.
My husband is a fixer, too. Our granddaughter says emphatically, when
something like a flat tire on her bike needs fixing, or a splinter in her
finger, “Go to PopPop. He can fix that.”
There are some things we just cannot fix, though, no matter how hard we try.
We cannot fix broken hearts. That is a real tough one, but not too hard for
our God.
Luke 1:37 tells us, “nothing is impossible with God”. The Lord himself said,
“with God all things are possible” (Matthew 19:26)
When we take our broken hearts to the healer, the One who created our
hearts, we can have them fixed. The only real fix for a broken heart is the
Lord….His mercy, His kindness, His gentleness, and most of all His loving
presence. He is not only the ultimate creator, He is the ultimate fixer.
That is good news.
A water bearer in India had two large pots, each hung on each end of a pole
which he carried across his neck. One of the pots had a crack in it, and
while the other pot was perfect and always delivered a full portion of water
at the end of the long walk from the stream to the master's house, the
cracked pot arrived only half full.
For a full two years this went on daily, with the bearer delivering only one
and a half pots full of water in his master's house. Of course, the perfect
pot was proud of its accomplishments, perfect to the end for which it was
made. But the poor cracked pot was ashamed of its own imperfection, and
miserable that it was able to accomplish only half of what it had been made
to do.
After two years of what it perceived to be a bitter failure, it spoke to the
water bearer one day by the stream. "I am ashamed of myself, and I want to
apologize to you."
"Why?" asked the bearer. "What are you ashamed of?" "I have been able, for
these past two years, to deliver only half my load because this crack in my
side causes water to leak out all the way back to your master's house.
Because of my flaws, you have to do all of this work, and you don't get full
value from your efforts," the pot said.
The water bearer felt sorry for the old cracked pot, and in his compassion
he said, "As we return to the master's house, I want you to notice the
beautiful flowers along the path."
Indeed, as they went up the hill, the old cracked pot took notice of the sun
warming the beautiful wild flowers on the side of the path, and this cheered
it some. But at the end of the trail, it still felt bad because it had
leaked out half its load, and so again it apologized to the bearer for its
failure.
The bearer said to the pot, "Did you notice that there were flowers only on
your side of your path, but not on the other pot's side? That's because I
have always known about your flaw, and I took advantage of it. I planted
flower seeds on your side of the path, and every day while we walk back from
the stream, you've watered them. For two years I have been able to pick
these beautiful flowers to decorate my master's table. Without you being
just the way you are, he would not have this beauty to grace his house."
Moral: Each of us has our own unique flaws. We're all cracked pots. But it's
the cracks and flaws we each have that make our lives together so very
interesting and rewarding. You've just got to take each person for what they
are, and look for the good in them. There is a lot of good out there. There
is a lot of good in you! Blessed are the flexible, for they shall not be
bent out of shape. Thank you, all my crackpot friends.
PENNIES FROM HEAVEN
Author Unknown
I found a penny today
just laying on the ground
But it's not just a penny
this little coin I've found
"Found" pennies come from heaven
that's what my Grandpa told me
He said angels toss them down
oh, how I loved that story
He said when an angel misses you
they toss a penny down
Sometimes just to cheer you up
make a smile out of your frown
So don't pass by that penny
when you're feeling blue
It may be a penny from heaven
that an angels tossed to you

be able to find or say to me anything that pleases me more." Our Lady
