Those of us of a certain age and certain tastes probably feel some pain and nostalgia at the news of the loss of Jean-Louis Trintignant.  Ah, those were the days of excitement and discovery.

He had such a sweet appeal, especially in the spectacular A Man and a Woman, the theme from which can haunt memories to this day.

My first husband bore a slight resemblance to him.

Ahh.  Well done, Jean-Louis.  You did grab our hearts.

Rest in peace.

I think I saw A Man and a Woman ten times. I was spellbound by it. I remember And God Created Woman (Vadim), Ma Nuit Chez Maude (Rohmer, which I really liked), and A Man and a Woman Twenty Years Later, not as good as the original.

I checked his filmography -- so many that I didn't see.

I agree with you.  That was one of the most beautiful and haunting love stories that I have ever seen.  It certainly stays with you.
