Re: Freedom of Speech and Though

Wow, this thread got a lot of replies. I think there are times that people take things too personally. Even if you word something as politely as possible, some people still get mad really easily. It amazes me what shock jock comedian are allowed to say and everybody just laughs. However, someone who's not a celebrity says something that's totally harmless, people flip out.

Anyway, in my opinion, it seems like there's a lot of snarky replies when it's just not necessary. Another thing that I've noticed is that even if you respectfully disagree as to why you're not fond of a host or what they're wearing, there's these fans that come out of woodwork ad proceed to say things like, "you're just jealous because she's got a great body and I'm sure you don't!" Even the smallest, politest disagreement about a host or a product, people that love that product flip out and it's near impossible to have a conversation at times.

Or passive-aggressive...or taking digs at someone....or trying to sway people away from something they like. Pretty much any of those. I'm quickly learning which places to avoid on this board.

If webbies would discern where rudeness or crudeness is in a post -- delete that, let everything else stay. Oh what a wonderful world VPs would be!

What may be crudeness to you is the hard honest truth many times.

Crudeness and rudeness are in the eye of the beholder.

Speaking as a former moderator, you are supposed to follow the guidelines, most do, but there are times you have to use your judgement. It's easy if there are complaints either reported or in subsequent posts.

But I have to afree with herekitty....some may perceive things as being rude or crude, i find most of the time, those comments are honest and truthful and sometimes something the poster may not want to hear.

Another problem is the rolling laughing heads that make their appearance often as a device to ridicule others.
