If you shop at Target online, don't pay with Paypal!! Our closest Target store is 75 miles away, so I never get there. When I do get to that city, we shop elsewhere as Target is well off the beaten trail, and I don't know my way around. I haven't even been in a Target store in four or five years. I ordered one thing recently from Target online. I paid for the item with Paypal...big mistake! The item was not as shown in the picture, so I needed to return it. If you pay for an online order with Paypal and return it, your money is not refunded to Paypal like other places would do. Instead, they send you a Target e-giftcard in the amount of the return...forcing you to spend that money at Target.
I never knew they had that policy. I did call their Guest Relations Dept. and talked to two different people. The first person told me they had that information in the "Help" section. I told him that I failed to read their entire Sitemap before ordering. Then, I talked to a supervisor who informed me that there is a question ("How are Paypal returns handled?) written in smaller print in between Pay with Paypal and Submit Order. I just went through the normal checkout process like everywhere else and hit submit order. I didn't realize you had to read the fine print. I assumed they handled Paypal returns like every other business does. I've never run into a situation like this before. The supervisor said he couldn't help me. I told him that I was through shopping with Target then. The supervisor said, "That sort of thing doesn't need to be said." I told him that Target advertises a "hassle-free" experience and that they obviously aren't interested in their customer's opinions if they don't want to hear things like that. He denied saying that, and I reminded him that the conversation was being recorded by Target, so he could re-listen to the tape if he wanted to. That rather shook him up. I asked for Target Headquarter's address, and he actually refused to give it to me. I just looked it up on the internet. I'm through with my Christmas shopping and can't find anything else that I need from Target online, so I am just stuck with this e-giftcard. It really makes me angry that they hold your money hostage like that. It's the principle of the thing. Obviously, Target must be hurting financially.
I've written to Target Headquarters, but I doubt it will do any good. I wanted them to cancel the e-giftcard and either refund my money to Paypal or send me a check. We'll see. At least I expressed my opinion about their "Hassle Free" experience.
