@Kachina624 wrote:@gertrudecloset Did you know you've got coyotes in Central Park?
No. I think of the other smaller (some of the time) 4 legged critters that roam NYC. Primarily tunnel rats @Kachina624 . The big ones that live in the railroad system.
Opposum, Racoons and deer I'm familiar with. There are even some wild turkeys roaming about who have been protected by the State.
When I go to CPW, I'm gonna be lurking now, thanks to that bit of news....LOL.

WV is now home to far more species of animals than what is considered native to these mountains, thanks to the DNR relocation services. We now have antelope, coyotes, elk, moose, eastern and western diamond back rattlesnakes, as well as another species of rattlesnake native to NM and CO, and these are just the species I am aware of.
A couple of years ago I had the chance to ask a local DNR officer WTH is up with all the relocated slithery creatures, and his obvious trained response was "to balance the eco system!"
@RedTop I read that in the resource info that I was looking into. They are so busy trying to control the deer population too. The clear everything in some places to build McMansions and then wonder why we have wildlife problems. How dumb is that?

WV could use a lot more help controlling the deer population; our DNR is not doing enough with this issue, and our local herds are growing by leaps and bounds yearly.

Ours too @RedTop . Here in NYC they were considering a "vasectomy" program to control the population. I've never seen a deer in the road in NYC, but I've seen plenty of news reports over the years of them being out in the middle of roads standing. They can cause accidents. I know they are here.
