I've been reading the blogs. For those of you who have been around a while, can you please explain the prize wheel, fifty-fifty tours and the lucky numbers machine? Just curious! TIA! Smile

The 50-in-50 Tour was the glory days of QVC. They went to each state and featured local entrepreneurs. Some of my favorite QVC products were purchased in that tour. Hosts went on location. Kathy Levine taught us all how to pronounce Boise, Idaho. {#emotions_dlg.laugh}

Jeanne Bice / Quacker Factory was a 50-in-50 discovery.

But, that was in the 1990s.

I once won $10 when my account number came up as a lucky number of the hour.

Founders Day, June 12, used to be a day of free shipping, every item aired that day had free shipping.

I miss those days. It was fun to watch then.

semi OT, but on this morning's fashion show, Pat mentioned something like, "if you've gotten away fro, buying fashion, this is a good way to try it, blaaaa etc", that to me said that the Q is definitely noticed the drop in the ordering. It just caught my ear that way, but I think the hosts have been told that the fashion is 'slipping'.

The 50-50 tour was the best! I loved it when they were on location and featuring local products in the different states. I don't know why they won't do it again. That was a program I always looked forward to.

I recall some kind of matching game but don't remember the specifics. I do remember Q Bird. The 50-in-50 tours were very interesting & it was fun to see them doing the shows live in different cities. They also used to send members a birthday greeting with something like a $2 or $5 credit or something. I recall they had my birthdate wrong.

Those were the days before they had this website where you could sign up & order things online; we had to call in to CS the first time to get a member number, etc. I think the first time I ever saw QVC at all was in 1989 when I was channel-surfing. Kathy Levine was just finishing a Diamonique show & had been sitting at a nice little Queen Anne-type table in a very simple studio.

Moving into their current studio was such a huge deal; I don't remember what year that was. Maybe 1995 or so? Their sets used to rotate, so while someone was on-air, there was activity on the other side of the wall behind them as others were getting set up for the next show.
