I had Chinese last night, and the fortune in my fortune cookie said.
"Enjoy life! It is better to be happy than wise"
I don't really agree with that.
One can be both.
One can be happy and wise.
It doesn't have to be one or the other.
What are some fortunes that you have come across?

I think I'm probably one of few people that don't even open the fortune cookie wrapper!

There are some happy people but not so wise people who post on forums.

It's suppose to be fun not a life lesson...read, toss, forget.

I thought this one was cute: "Don't believe everything you read in a fortune cookie."

One I had said "Experience new things". A few days later I fell, dislocated my shoulder, broke the humerous and broke my hand. Never reading another again!!!

When I was about 13 I was in San Francisco visiting one of my aunts. She took me to dinner at the Empress in China town - a very upscale fancy restaurant. I don't remember what her fortune was but she said it was mean and she wanted a new fortune and until she got one she was refusing to pay for our dinner. I was mortified and sure we were going to be arrested. Because of the language barrier they could not understand what she wanted. They finally summoned the manager, she got her new fortune, paid the bill and all was well.

Depends upon your personal definition of "wise".
One can be "book wise" or "life wise".
Seems if one is "wise" enough to accept what one can change and what one cannot change in life then it would seem some peace, and therefore happiness, will follow.
A little Zen perhaps never hurts.

Years ago I got a funny one that I’ve never forgot, it said
You like Chinese food

When I was a teenager we frequented our favorite Chinese restaurant. One time all of us got "regular" fortunes, except for my mom. Hers said, "Happy New Year from the Chinese bakers!" ![]()
