Re: Former Super Model Linda Evangelista suing plastic surgeon

[ Edited ]

I think Linda looks like a normal woman of her age.  Not sure if her weight gain can be described as 'significant' because her weight was at a model's very low weight in her younger days - a skinny starting point. If her weight in her 20's were at a normal weight, we could say now that she gained a little bit, but most of us do as we age. It is too bad what happened to her with the procedure, but she still looks good.  In my opinion, average size. I do not see her as being fat at all.

Re: Former Super Model Linda Evangelista suing plastic surgeon

She was always a favorite model of mine and I think this is sad as her body and face was her livelihood.  How many of us have gone in for whatever procedures or operations that did not turn out as we expected?  Whether it be an oral surgery, foot surgery, shoulder surgery, etc...Some come out better, some come out worse.

This is a shame because it was an elective surgery, not medically necessary.  She's probably angry at herself for getting this done when she really didn't have to and having a poor result to boot.

Re: Former Super Model Linda Evangelista suing plastic surgeon

I find it heartbreaking that she was not AMPLY PREPARED PSYCHOLOGICALLY  for less than perfect (or EXPECTED) results.

If she was in fact offered FULL DISCLOSURE concerning this procedure before she accepted it, then she still wasn't prepared to deal with potential adverse reactions.

I can't think she wasn't given the same pages of warnings we ALL receive for ANYTHING we have done with potentially negative co sequences.

Bottom line is, she is STILL A VERY BEAUTIFUL WOMAN who perceives what has happened to her as DISASTROUS, and THAT IS HEARTBREAKING, and much more so than simply how a beautiful no longer young woman looks.

She's not taking into account what can happen to the body during menopause.   I've seen women who were slim their entire lives literally blow up when going through menopause.  Your body can change drastically.   I'm certain that the sculpting procedure didn't help, but maybe a diet and fitness regimen would work rather than yet another plastic surgery procedure.

Some of the weight might very well be from menopause.  Lots of women gain weight at that time and while hormones are fluctuating, it's hard to get it off.

Often risks for procedures are so rare that they are downplayed or minimized.

I read that she's suing for 50 million because it also gave her a rare syndrome called PAH. It's got something to do with blood clots or blood pressure/lung issues.

Oh, boo hoo.  She's no longer model gorgeous but looks like an everyday mature woman.  She's put on significant weight like a lot of older women.   She actually still looks good made up.

Hey I no longer look like I did thirty years ago either.  It's life and she should have known about risks one takes when it comes to any procedure.

@haddon9  I saw a Dr. on tv explain what went wrong. CS is supposed to reduce fat cells, hers did the opposite which Dr. said can happen. That's why she is heavy now. CS backfired.

".......why she's heavy now......" could only have happened by eating and gaining weight because she ate.

Why she is "disfigured", she says, is because she had the surgery.

"Agoraphobia" is a very severe, significant, serious condition that emerges from multiple causes.

She became famous during a period in which modeling was a dangerous profession for women with psychological vulnerabilities, and for people familiar with agoraphobia and havoc it causes, her case was textbook.

I have ENORMOUS SYMPATHY for her and where she is now, but no matter what if anything she collects in her law suit, unless she addresses the roots of her misery it will be very difficult to repair her current situation.

I just want to add that she's been depressed and somewhat "housebound". That can result in overeating. I'm not sure if  these pics of the "afters" are showing  extra weight before the procedures in question or from staying inside and not willing to be seen.

Threre's even a couple of annoying commercials about Botox to look younger ALONG WITH THE DANGERS!  And also one for cool sculpting which includes possible adverse side effects....BUT I guess some people ignore what COULD happen in order to retain their "youth"......Some of these celebrities that have had these procedures look downright HIDEIOUS as they age and from what some of them have said you can only have so much "work done" and then have to live with the results..

Look at Joan Rivers and how her appearance was altered....On Decades TV they show parts of the old Ed Sullivan Shows and they have had the comedy bits of Joan and she was actually an attractive woman and really didnt need that altering....

Part of her weight gain can also be from depression.

@proudlyfromNJ Are you saying that this procedure has made her heavy overall?  She appears that she's put on a lot of weight which I can understand if it has made her upset.  I was under the impression that "cool sculpting" was something that was done on a specific part of the body.

In any event yes I do feel sorry for her but she looks like an average 57 year old. It must be extra difficult to be just average looking after being a stunning supermodel.  Life can be hard for many.
