Good for you! We can't file yet as we are still pending 1099s.
As a retired federal employee I have experienced a few shut downs and let me tell you it is not pleasant. Who is deemed essential/non essential. Officially furloughing employees then having to reinstate them a week later. No purchases permitted except for critical operations. IE., you can't obligate funds that are not there. It is a headache and in the long run very costly. If the general public really knew what it cost to shut down then reopen they would have a hissy fit. As far as I am concerned, the budget is the budget and no "special" projects should be tied to the budget.

Sorry. When the government is shut down, the waste of my tax dollars stops even if only for a little while. As a federal empployee, you had perks that the majority of private sector employees did not.

I always say if you haven't experienced it you may really not know for sure. However, I respect your opinion.
As a tax payer it irks me to spend "millions" to shut down the government, then "millions" to reopen it. That to me is truly a waste of dollars!

Smoke, mirrors and games from all sides.

All kinds of games. This is from a daughter of a journalist from three major newspapers. I have had it. I am watching cartoons or reruns. I cannot put up with any more information--- misinformation or whatever. Had it! I am no longer watching or reading news. Period.

Well, it's not game to me. The !#$$^* mess we call our government doesn't have any winners. We're all losing. We do our taxes online ourselves and we refunds is deposited in our account in 8 or 9 days.

I just downloaded my 1099 and my 1095 this morning. Not sure exactly when they became available but I'm happy to have them now so I can start my return on-line.![]()

@Cats3000Public employees do have perks not available in the private sector - but it's the private sector that creates the oligarchy we piblic workers are going to be supporting for the decades ahead. That's where the real bennefits are, but the top tries to keep them for themselves.
