A very good friend of mine recently went out on date with a gentleman (she thought), in fact, he is a doctor. After three dates he started sending her some very inappropriate text messages (called "sexting" by the younger set). Some of these messages bordered on "sick."
She has been told by her therapist to just tell him she no longer has time to date, maybe sometime in the future, but not now. She does not plan to upset him by reacting to or mentioning the obscene text messages.
My gut reaction is that she should definitely tell him his messages were grossly inappropriate and she will not date him under any circumstances. If he gets nasty or threatening, she should call the police.
Am I overreacting or is she underreacting?
