I just adopted an 11 month old Golden retriever- named Lola. Lola is crate trained by her previous owners. I believe she spent all day in the crate with her previous owners( why they sold her to me--- they felt bad about that) I have never used crates with any of my dogs in the past. This dog does not have anxiety issues- and is not destructive at all. I put her in the crate at night still- but have not put her in it during the day as she seems fine just out of it.
My question is- should I continue to crate her at night for bed just to keep her in the "crate mode"? Even as she becomes adult? She seems to like going in it at night and from what I have been reading- dogs like the "Den effect" the crate creates.
Thanks for any info on this! I have not had a big puppy for several years and have not had a young dog for ever. I forgot how energetic they are! I am pooped out
I have a lot of training to do with Lola. She does not even walk on the leash yet or know how to sit. I have my work cut out for me! She has a very sweet happy personality so I am sure she will be a star!
