We have a lady running around our office asking people if they have gotten their vaccine yet, and finally someone said to her why? Are you the Covid Police? That shut her up....

If you are not over 65 or have major health issues and have received the vaccine for whatever reason, work category or leftover shots or whatever, do you feel reluctant to share with others that you received it?

DH and I are close to 65 (within 2-3 years) and had the good fortune to get leftover vaccines this week.  Our family is aware, but I'm not sure I feel comfortable sharing it with friends who aren't as fortunate.

@Linmo, it is certainly dependent on what you personally feel comfortable about.  But also think about if someone learns from your experience and then is able to also get a chance of having a vaccination instead of it being wasted.  That saves a wasted vaccine & meets the goal of getting another person vaccinated.

Some people just aren't aware, even though you might think they know.  I will share an experience we had when I happened to post on my Facebook page about my husband  receiving his first dose of the vaccine.  He received his as a part of the routine category at that time.  One of our veteran friends then posted a response that I could tell he was frustrated.  I immediately sent his wife a text and ended up speaking with her on the phone.  Neither my husband or this friend were going through the VA since they receive private medical care, but in this case it turns out they had really made some incorrect assumptions about how the sign up worked.  We got that worked out and by the next evening, they had an appointment for him the next week.

There is no problem at all with being available to receive a dose before it is wasted.  Good for you!  But if you are not comfortable sharing that information with friends and other family, that is ok too.

Thanks to all who replied.  I do not just randomly share personal health information, but if a close friends asks, I am not a good liar.  I've realized this is a touchy subject and I've been honest with my friends who asked and they were very supportive.

[ Edited ]

I'm 53 and had my first shot about 2 weeks ago.  I rec'd it when I became eligible in my state.

I live in Ohio and as of today, everyone age 16+ is able to get the vaccine.

I didn't do anything wrong so no I don't have anything to feel guilty about.

Re: For those that have had a COVID vaccine

I have tried until I'm blue in the face to get appointments and I'm really tired of how much a PITA this is.

But, I'd hate to see others feel badly about having gotten their vaccinations just because some of us cannot seem to get them.   It's cool and I'm just glad that some have been able to.

Meanwhile, I'm at the point of being tired of trying.

Geez. I hope you can get your appointment. TN is 16+ now. When I went on the website it said there were no appointments available. But the date fields were set to show only the next 2 weeks, not beyond that. I had to try different date combinations to even get to the available appointments, which were all farther out than 2 weeks.

It was not straightforward and I bet many people gave up when they saw the initial no appointments statement on there.

AFAIK here it's still 65+ and I've been trying harder because I fear that when they open it all the way up it will be even more impossible.  I'm also considering just waiting until everything has quieted down and, if there are still vaccines, maybe I can get in then.

It's exhausting especially with my cognitive problems that cause me to go into overwhelmed mode, at which point I just end up completely shut down.  I'm pretty close to that now.  Smiley Happy
