I think for some there's a feeling of vaccine envy. They see people they know who are vaccinated and resuming some "normal" activities with a bit less worry (errands, medical appointments, etc.) and can't wait to be vaccinated themselves. That is not to say that those who are fortunate enough to be vaccinated should feel guilty or anything like that -- I don't sense ill will (except for people who have jumped the line unethically), just an "I can't wait until it's my turn" feeling. I'm happy to see the number of people I know who are getting vaccinated.

I think most people consider it an interesting topic of conversation. There's nothing wrong with asking or bringing it up. It's a public thing that is all over the news.
But if you run into someone who reacts badly when you ask, it's easy to drop the subject. And then generally assume the person is very private in general or that they consider the Covid vaccine to be a controversial topic for them. Usually you already know that about a person.
So far I haven't encountered anyone who got upset or didn't want to talk about it. Even one family member I trod carefully around in case she might get upset, she just let me know she already had her shots. She was happy about it and credited Operation Warp Speed.

DH and I are close to 65 (within 2-3 years) and had the good fortune to get leftover vaccines this week. Our family is aware, but I'm not sure I feel comfortable sharing it with friends who aren't as fortunate.
@Linmo I do not understand why you and your DH were able to receive leftover shots but your friends were not.
Are they also under 65? Do they live in your area?
If somebody asks me what is new, I don't get into my health issues.
I just do not see why this is an issue for you. If you and DH knew the leftovers were available, your friends could keep an eye out for themselves, too.
It's not a secret.

@rms1954 Why are you so negative. There is nothing wrong with sharing especially about COVID 19 that has wreaked havoc with our lives!!

Not everyone wants it. If you want it, and you were able to receive it, then good for you. Most of my friends have declined the shot. None of us feel we want to take the risk of the potential, down the road side effects. So don't worry, you can share your news, or not.
@Effie54 Agreed! Not everyone has vaccine "envy".
What a great way to put it!
