I finally decided to get a security system but for the new home I am renting. I love it and I can't believe waited so long. Yet, I have to say I was in a very safe neighborhood before but since I am getting divorced I felt living in a different area I needed security and I just love it. I keep my system on inside the home and of coure when I leave the home. My monitor I guess you call shows beautiful nature pictures and well it is so lovely and flowers too. I signed a two year contract and it is expensive but the monthly charge is only $40...........still it was not planned in my budget but sometimes we just need certain things.

Sorry to hear you are going through a divorce. I'm glad that you are living in a home that gives you a feeling of security. Best wishes with prayers for you and your new life going forward.

We feel it's just part of our lives as we've had one for 32 years and going. As we've gotten older, I'm comfortable in having one as my husband is older and we don't want any problems.
After we've survived to live this long, why should we have to put up with burglary or even worse. It's for our own good we say.

You can get battery operated alarms for your windows and doors for a fraction of the price of a wired in system. If you move, you can bring them with you too.
My home came with an ADT system, so we kept it...but my son's area (the former servant's quarters in the back of the building) wasn't wired in, so we got the battery devices. They look JUST like the ADT system and we have them on every first floor window in his area.

We have had ADT for years and are very happy with it. Hubby called to check up upgrades and wowza! talk about costing an old, faithful customer. He told them no thanks, we'll keep our system as is..

I stayed with ADT because it was already here. The system is very elaborate - it cost $3,000 just to get it installed.
I eliminated the motion detectors, since I have a curious cat and a dog who sleepwalks!

terrier, when we'd leave and turn the alarm on, we'd cover the sensors because of the cats.. OMG it didn't cost us anywhere that much back in the old days, of 89... that's a ton of dough!

She got it installed in 2004. She only lived here 3 months of the year and needed security.

Thank you for your post. We married March 5 and I left April 25th two months ago tonight..........broken in my heart and I am still am but he really wanted me for a babysitter and my monthly income..........So stupid I believed I could be loved. No more. Doing for just me now. I will heal and we do reap what we sow and I tell you I was a good wife for the first time it was not about me I was totally giving and never complained or asked for anything. I was not a princess I was a good wife and I miss that precious 8 year old step son. Just not meant to be. He said his family kept pushing him to marry me because I was pretty and the best woman he had ever had and that I loved him and was loyal and honest, I am so sorry he did not love me. I failed again but I have to go on. I will miss him but I can't make him love me. He said he was not attracted to me. Why marry me? He picked the date and kept pushing for marriage so I thought he loved me. I will never be loved by a man but I wish I would have known that and accepted that years ago it would have saved me a lot of money and heartache and I was going to sue him and I would have won but I would have always had to look over my shoulder becasue he was a hot head or is a hot head and he did not even thank me for not suing him and his family that was keeping my valuables because he had no room for them in his home won't give them back to me so I am walking away totally. What did I learn, No one will ever love me. The only thing I really wanted was love.
