From the CIS.org website:
"The Center for Immigration Studies is an independent, non-partisan, non-profit research organization founded in 1985. It is the nation's only think tank devoted exclusively to research and policy analysis of the economic, social, demographic, fiscal, and other impacts of immigration on the United States."
If it were under the purvey of the government, the info would not be as clear and readable as that of this site. With anything, trust but verify seems the intelligent thing to do.
I CLEARLY stated CENSUS.gov.
Helloooooooo?
I was trying to help you. But I cannot help your reading comprehension.
Sorry! Only you can do that.
CIS was listed as a convenience for persons perusing the thread. If you want to spend all day navigating www.census.gov, then go to it!
Have FUN!
@RinaRina, hey, I'm with YOU! Not against you. I would recommend the CIS site over any of the convoluted mishmash the government puts out.

You edited the sentence re: the organization. Here it is, in total:
The Center for Immigration Studies (CIS) is a non-profit research organization that advocates immigration reduction in the United States.

Well, CIS's purpose is to LIMIT immigration, so it's not exactly "impartial"

@terrier3, excuse me, but are you saying that I, MaggieMack, edited the quotation I posted??? If you are, it is YOU who is wrong as I absolutely did NO SUCH THING and it offends me greatly to be accused of it. Proof? Go to the CIS website, scroll down to the bottom of the page, you will find the quotation there. I hit Copy and then I hit Paste. You owe me an apology.

Well, you didn't investigate them very thoroughly. They are biased and dedicated to REDUCING immigration.
Don't be offended...just feel duped by a biased group with bogus "research."
It wasn't you and I'm sorry for that - but you've been "had".
