Re: For the Bus Driver or the Lady @ the Post Office

I'm tired of the QVC hosts making suggestions to give gifts to anyone we've ever laid eyes on!!  Please.  Wait, let me run to my overstocked gift closet and see what I can find.

In my mind the only gift for service providers like teachers and hairdressers etc. is a gift card, no matter how small it is

They don’t want stuff. They might not like, want, need, or be able to use it, and shouldn’t feel guilty about throwing it away.

Re: For the Bus Driver or the Lady @ the Post Office

It's just a time filler and a sales pitch.  It's the same as when they say "RUN because we are almost sold out!!!"  "Look at the bottom of your screen and see all the red and yellow sizes!!!!!!"

Then you go online and everything is still available.  LOL

While I think it was kinda of odd to mention a robe for a bus driver or the lady at the Post Office, who really would now think,,,,,,,,,,"Gosh I never thought of buying robes for them-good idea.  Thanks for the tip!"  LOL

Re: For the Bus Driver or the Lady @ the Post Office

Last year my hairdresser thanked me for the great fudge.  I only gave her cash, so I don’t know who gave her fudge.  Many people toss homemade food gifts.

We also have presents for patients at my job.  It’s about $20-30.  Socks, throws, sweat shirts, candy.  They give us a patient name from a local nursing home if you sign up to donate.   And they give a few needed items listed.

Re: For the Bus Driver or the Lady @ the Post Office

I never knew what a horrible, selfish person I was until QVC.  Woman Sad

I never gift any of these people. Woman Very Happy

I've worked retail and even had my own store for years.  Only one time did someone give me something at the holidays - a mug with some Hershey's Kisses in it.

I never expected anything or wanted anything. And honestly would have felt uncomfortable if someone had gifted me something of great value.

Stil, that being said, had I only known that all those customers over the years should have been gifting me Luxury Robes, Air Fryers, Lawn Mowers! Humph! Makes for quite the letdown!

So, if you give a bus driver a robe, what do you give your kid's teacher?

Bra and panties?

Re: For the Bus Driver or the Lady @ the Post Office

I did buy 3 orders of the Enstrom's toffee for gifts. The first two are for delivery the week of 12/2 (fingers crossed with how the shipping here sometimes is).

Those are sold out now but I just ordered a tub of toffee, individually wrapped, for deliver the week of 12/11.  That one, shipping wise, makes me more nervous.

I have several people that I'll be able to use this for (including our mail carrier)  and any excess I'll take to the senior center where I walk and it will be gone in 3.2 seconds.

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?

@disneynut57  That was Nancy Hornback. I give gifts to our postal worker, etc, but not a bathrobe ! Ridiculous.

Nancy comes across to me as one of the more intelligent hosts. I doubt she would come up with that gem on her own. I blame her producer whispering that nonsense into her earpiece, lol.

Interesting that you say that. I have always thought Nancy was a little, er, ditzy (for lack of a better term). I must admit that I heard her say it this morning and thought "huh?" but just let it go. Not sure it was worth a huge amount of thought or outrage -- just a goofy thing she said.

Re: For the Bus Driver or the Lady @ the Post Office

Every item presented starting June for CIJ has become a "gift for every person one has ever come in contact with" or the "infamous gift closet"🙄😳
