I don't consider myself to be a "germaphobe" particularly but any cut gets washed thoroughly, dabbed with antibiotic cream and covered immediately because of my diabetes.

I like the loud hand dryers. I think Dyson makes them. They dry my hands super fast. I still grab a paper towel to open the door though. Lol

I hate air dryers in bathrooms. When there aren't paper towels, I often have to touch the door handle to exit. With so many people who don't feel it necessary to wash their hands (yuck), I might as well go massage the commode if I'm going to touch the door. Wash your hands, ladies! Ew.

That it is! For those without an immunity issue, I think many take it waaaay too far. Common sense is what many use to make it through many decades of happy and physically fit lives.

What do you base that on, John? What I think is that those who toss around the word germophobe know pretty much nothing about auto immune disorders. Many people who get sick easily actually do have an auto immune problem and don't know it.
It wasn't common sense that got you and I through decades, it was good medical care.

There is a lot of truth - and centuries of practical observation - demonstrating that for the average, not immune compromised person, being exposed to everyday germs is what gets us through life.
Google what happened to the native Hawaiians, the continental Native Americans and aboriginal Australians when their immune systems were exposed to germs they had no immunity to.
We need germs to build everyday immunities to the common cold and our GI tracts, just to name two areas. There's no point in living lives so sterile that when you do get something you're severely ill, hospitalized or die.
People with disease-compromised immune systems are a separate group with their own issues.

I don't like air dryers take too long and don't dry as well
so I use some TP instead

There was no way the First Americans would not get sick from exposure to things like smallpox, sometimes induced on purpose.
Even early travelers from Europe got sick from it not to mention it could still kill. No one got stronger from exposure to smallpox.

How does a hand dryer suck up a sneeze or toilet flush? It blows air out. What if it's idle/off? It's across the room behind a locked door. I'd think standing next to a flushing toilet would cause more concern (?). Makes no sense

I can only speak for myself. Knowledge was/is my primary reason for seeking medical care, along with a little common sense along the way. Believing in being proactive and preventive health maintenance were also a part of me making it.
Germaphobe is not a term I use to describe people, nor am I highly knowledgeable when it comes to the auto-immune system. What I said is based on many people I know, or have known, that are so worried about certain things when it comes to germs, but seem blind to others the seem to choose to ignore.
While good medical care has saved my life, I am not going to short change myself in being mentally equipped to know when my body and/or mind has had very serious physical and mental health issues. A person has to get themselves to the medical care or they might be another statistic.

I blew my hair dry once with one of those bathroom dryers.
I got to work and hated how my hair looked washed it in the sink and dried it with that.
I guess I should be dead now lol
It was all good until my bosses sister came in the bathroom.![]()
