Sammycat, I fully understand - count me in to be the first in line to purchase your book whenever you are finished. Smiley Happy And my thoughts are with you and DH that you both are back in the best of health very soon.

And I have some good news to report: I have a meeting tomorrow at a company I interviewed with right after Christmas, and they are presenting me with a job offer! Maybe this is the way employers do it now, I used to get them by telephone but that was ages ago.

OK -- thanks for your good wishes and congratulations on the job offer!

I came to get some words of wisdom from everyone & saw this thread & now I am crying again.

Buddy crossed the bridge last night. He was with us for 16 years. My head knows letting him go was the right thing to do, based on his physical condition--my heart just won't listen. My head knows he couldn't stay with me forever, but my heart is broken.

When will the empty hole in my throat & stomach ease? I can't stop crying. My soul aches. Will it get better or am I doomed to feel this constant grip?

This is the hardest thing I have ever experienced.

I am lonely without him & miss him terribly.

Your Buddy left his paw pads on your heart forever. He is adorable [bless his sweet heart] sorry, for your loss. Buddy knows how much he is loved! Rainbow Bridge.com has a wonderful web site with another wonderful poem and you can light a candle for you best friend there. Take care at this very sad time.

Thank you Matty6--I lit a candle for him.

I miss him mentally, physically & emotionally. The emptiness is overwhelming. I thank God for the time I had with him. It was a privilege to be his mommy.

Wishd, I was you in October when I lost my Faith. I came here to this forum in agony, feeling as you do, that the pain was going to swallow me whole. The people here held me up with their love, support, beautiful poems. They too knew the pain. We all do.

They said I will find a day when the memories comfort me instead of sting. I am not there yet but I believe those who have journeyed ahead of me.

I will light a candle in my home tonight for your sweet baby. I truly believe we will see our pets again and I can't wait for that wonderful day.

Your welcome... Take good care of yourself. God bless you and your family and Buddy. I know you miss him but, remember he is only a thought away.

Re: For Those Whose Pets Have Crossed the Bridge

Well, I came into the "Home" section of the forum looking for info on sheets and got sidelined into this thread. We also have just lost our little buddy of 14 years a few weeks ago. The pain was devastating. We'd had many dogs over the years, but this one was not only that once-in-a-lifetime dog, she was also our soul mate. The worst of it is leaving me, but it's so hard to not have those routines with her, even the all the hard work and worry we had for the last few years as her health failed.

It's comforting in some small way to know that we are not the only ones whose lives literally revolved around their dogs. Our lives are just so different now. If we were younger, we'd probably already be starting to consider another dog, but at our age, like Sammycat1, we have other considerations before we make that commitment. Which in itself is sad for me.

I'd like to thank all of you for your posts, which of course, have me crying right now. Nagrom, the poem was lovely--I've seen it before. wishd4it: your Buddy reminded me so much of my Phou. She was a Lhasa, but those eyes were the same. To all of you who have lost a beloved pet, my deepest sympathies. And to those of you with aging or ailing pets, love them the best you can while you have them.

Geezerette, I am so sorry for your loss. We are also in the same boat--not sure about sharing our love with another because of our age & other considerations. I am also sad about that--it is a loss on many accounts.

I hope we all are able to heal enough to remember they gifts they were to us, instead of the daily pain now.

God Bless.

Thank you. And I guess a few of us are in the same boat with age and other things.

We will get there. The memories are good ones now, but they still bring tears. I certainly do know what gifts all our animals have been to us, which is one reason I'm sad if we decide not to have any others. Our dog brought such joy and laughter to my husband and I, and now our house is so quiet. I hate the thought of growing even older with even less to look forward to without another animal to keep us interested and upbeat. I don't want to become a lonely, pessimistic old lady.

Wishing you pleasant memories...
