Re: For Those Who Have Served

That's a lovely sentiment.

But as the daughter, granddaughter, sister, wife of career Army, it's our Constitution, Bill of Rights and our citizens that give us our freedoms and rights.

Wishing those who have lost our nation's warriors peace and gratitude for their ultimate sacrifice.

No greater love than to lay down one's life for his friends and country.

Re: For Those Who Have Served

my dad landed at Normandy on June 6---he fought in the Battle of the Bulge---there was a book written (now out of print) about his very small group--he was a hero---he died in the service of his country when he worked on and observed the radioactive tests in Nevada---he was declared a bone cancer victim caused by radiation--he was a career Army officer the book and battles are very similar to ""Saving Private Ryan""---my edit

Re: For Those Who Have Served

Memorial Day is the most special. While it is wonderful that Veteran's Day honors all Veterans (I am one). This is the day for the ones who gave the ultimate sacrifice. They gave their life. Most are very young and young. Yes, I am proud of my five years as a Navy Dental Tech but that is a small drop when you know the ones who went into combat, flew in air strikes and all the very scary and numerous situations that I can't even imagine. Please think of all the families (parents, siblings, cousins, aunts, uncles, friends and most important the young spouses with their young children) as their sacrifice is second to none. I do not mean to lecture or state the obvious. I am just passionate about Memorial Day. I fly my flag all year but if you could fly that flag this weekend in their honor it would be wonderful.

Wrong is still wrong just because you benefited from it.
