I really don't understand relying on nutrition info out of "Redbook."  I talk to my PCP about diet.  On carbs and the carb index, when I looked into it after discussion with him, I found almost all the popular wisdom was totally misleading or utterly untrue.

People need to do their own research.

I get Redbook but haven't read the August or September issue yet but I'm going to pull them out and see what the actual article says.

Most magazines have doctors/nutritionists on staff that either fully write these articles or who the staff at Redbook consults with for their information so I'm not really sure what the problem is.  It would be one source of information, an interesting discussion and it's the equivalent of researching.

Most PCP know little to nothing about diet, nutrition, vitamisn and supplements.  If I really wanted to speak with someone about my diet, I would personally seek out a registered dietician.

OMG brussel sprouts are probably my very favorite.  I buy the shredded ones and put a little olive oil in a pan, dump in my sprouts, use sea salt and pepper and cook them.  They are fantastic.  I will admit they do stink up the house though.

Thought for sure you would weigh in on this topic. But, maybe you have and I missed seeing it.

Oooo...you know me, for sure!

No, I saw the original post & billed it as another one of a zillion

low carbohydrate, high fat Wheat Belly, Grain Brain, Whole30, Atkins type of articles where the Glycemic Index is being used...where foods are low GI for the wrong reasons & foods are high GI for the right reasons (see candy bars vs carrots).

The Gylcemic Index was never meant to be the governing authority for good or bad foods.

If I want answers about GI, I go straight to the source who created it,

Dr. David Jenkins.

Google his name for info or watch his interview.

Pretty much says what we HCLF peeps have been saying all along.

All of a sudden your list of foods that you will never eat went away.  I thought it was cute and I can't fathom why it would be deleted.

I have one major food that will never cross my lips.

PEAS

Never, ever ever!     Smiley SurprisedSmiley Very Happy

They are fabulous raw.

I love peas and rice.

A comfort food from WAY BACK.

I've got @mstyrion 1's back.  No peas for me ever either.  They always taste like mush.

The only thing worse is the smell of beets.  I will jump off a cliff and end it all now before I ever put one of those in my mouth.  Yuck!  Smiley Tongue  <----me spitting them out

Sweet garden peas taste like MUSH?  No, no, NO!!!!  They are sweet and wonderful.

But, hey, I like beets too!!!

I'm wondering if, at least some of, the folks who don't like peas and consider them 'mushy' have only eaten canned peas.

Canned peas are really quite gross and mushy.  If you have fresh, or even frozen if you cannot get fresh veg where you are, you will notice a marked difference.  It's BEYOND night and day.  Smiley Happy

I saw a report this morning which said the veg kids eat most often in the first year of their life is french fries.

Now that's just sad.

I make roasted beets at least once a week.  Love them.

I like to make a salad with the beets, some goat or bleu cheese, and walnuts.

Or we just eat them as a side dish.

I don't buy any canned vegetables.

I only use frozen or fresh vegetables.  I don't think I would like canned peas.
