Is it just me but is it a rip off that companies fill bags with air (chips etc) making you think you are getting a good portion for the money only to discover that less than half the bag is full when you open it
They claim its to prevent breakage. Do you believe that?

Yes I believe that.

Yes, I believe it. Things are filled by machine, likely at high speed. They also need to allow for settlement after filling.
I always look at the net weight listed on the package to see what I'm getting.

I believe it. Never buy a flat bag of potato chips.

It seems to me there were more chips in the same size bag a while ago. They may have lowered the number of oz. of chips in the bag and added more air. I know the air was not this much. There has always been air, but this it so full of air, it is difficult to grip the middle seam to pull the bag open.

I've noticed the same with popcorn. I always buy the same brand and flavor, and I am 100% sure there is less than a few years ago.(pre-pandemic)

Not only chips, but look at how the vitamin containers are only half full......Vitamin D3 and CO-Q-10 are the ones I am currently looking at.
You have to put on glasses to see what the count is in each bottle so you can compare the price / pill ! Might have to haul out the calculator on the cellphone....but I may end up dropping something, lol !

Never buy anything based on the size of the container. What you see is not what you get (inside). Look at the weight of it.

They have. It's called "skrinkflation" and it is another marketing strategy used by companies now.
Shrink the contents and still raise the price too!😩
