Follow-up on Last Month's High Electric Bill...

Last month it was $524. Like many people locally using National Grid, I complained to our Senator and Congressman.

National Grid had excuse after excuse for why they had to charge TRIPLE for actual kilowatts in March, vs. the previous months.

After many articles in the paper and on TV and many complaints, they backed down. This month's bill is just $137 for almost the same amount of electricity.

Sometimes it pays to complain!

Woo hoo! Glad somebody listened - or whatever happened. Smiley Wink

$400 is a humongous difference.

Good for the complainers! It paid off-now if only they would issue refunds.

They tripled our rate with NO WARNING during the coldest month of the year!

It wasn't just me...people were furious all over the state.

I almost was afraid to open this month's bill...what a pleasant surprise!

Over 600 bucks is still too much for 2 months electric.

That was just wrong. I'd like to see them have to send out refunds, or credit the accounts of, all the customers who received triple rates. How can that be justified? (rhetorical question, as I don't think it can be)

I can imagine opening up the bill and then seeing that new number - I get a rush of good feeling just thinking about it. Smiley Happy

Over $500 for one month was outrageous.

They never ever issue refunds...... When we are due money back from any of our utility companies here for their mistakes, they keep the money, but do give us credit.

Wonder if they will be giving these customers any kind of credit for that outrageous billing....

I live in a small apartment, and I know I paid much more this past winter than I have in a long time. Have lived here in my 16th year now.

I think I would be complaining too if I had a 3X cost for a month.

Re: Follow-up on Last Month's High Electric Bill...

By the way, I just heard today that the whole east coast was one power plant away from a total black out last winter. If any had failed the whole grid would have been shut down due to all running to capacity. This summer if it is too hot, we are in danger of total shut down also. Since many coal plants have been shut down or are due to be taken off line, next winter may be a bumpy ride for those in the state without enough plants to plants to produce what is needed by consumers..... Buy your candles and blankets now.

In the by the way dept. The EPA has now decided to replace the pumps that move the natural gas with electric pumps. These pumps will go off if the electricity is shut down for any reason.........
