So are you allowed to smoke pot and drive in states it's legal?
Wonder what the penalty is for them? Will be interesting to see.

So, you are implying that this may be frowned upon?
Are ya sure?

@BirkiLady wrote:@Susan Louise I'm in Lincoln. But in a very, very southern suberb and would have to drive 30 minutes to reach I-80! Three blocks? Holy cow. You have easy access to where ever you want to go! You need a CB radio to stay up-to-date with the drug traffickers as you cruise by. Such idiots.
@BirkiLady Small world...I'm in NW Lincoln too...and right by the airport ![]()

No, maybe I'm not being clear with my question.
I'm asking, in states where smoking pot is legal, are you allowed to drive and smoke pot at the same time?

To the extent that it’s legal to drink and drive in any state. There are “legal limits” you can have in your system if tested that are, comparably, a much smaller amount of marijuana than alcohol is allowed.

I know, right? Although weed is now legal in my state I could never imagine trying to transport it illegally and, good grief, if I were I sure as heck would not be driving like a fool through other states. This is just stupid criminal stuff.
I'm glad they made it legal here. I had not smoked weed for a very long time (smoked through the 70s, 80s, and 90s, but never a stoner - always a responsible person with a job 100% of the time and bills always paid, etc) and now that I live in pain 90% of the time, it was interesting to contemplate it as something that might help me in that regard.
It was voted in last Nov and then I guess they had a lot to do to make it happen so it finally got going on July 1 of this year. I was curious to check out the scene, but I don't like crowds so I decided to wait a while.
Then time went by and I finally went to one of the local dispensaries early this month. Wow! What a sophisticated operation it is! You have to go through one door and offer your ID, then another door opens and you can go through that and then another one where they give you a rep to help you.
They are very nice and it was just so profoundly interesting! It's not like when I was young and you bought a lid or whatever ($10, BTW) and that was that. NOw there are all these different kinds. Some more for pain. Some more to just get high. Some for both. You can only buy so much per day, so it's not like you can walk in and buy a carpload of it.
It was an interesting experience. I just purchased a couple 3.5gram packets. Each packet is sealed up (like those zip lock type bags where the consumer has to tear off a wide strip along the top before it can be opened) and also has a plethora of information on the bag. It says when it was mfr'd, where, all these codes and names, percentages, etc.
Sales tax was about 18%.
I would never consider smoking it and leaving my house or taking it somewhere else. It's very odd, after so many years, and now being in my 60s. You think of some different stuff. The first time I was afraid I would get too high. I've always been very responsible so it just fine-tuned that and I found my spot (never have gotten too high - yet, anyway).
I find it does help with some of my pains to varying degrees. My back and neck have been considerably better, going from having extreme pain in both quite a bit. I'm having less inflamation, particularly since I'm having so much more with the hand on my left arm, that was badly broken a few months ago.
Anyway, sorry so long. I just thought I'd share in case it helps somebody else or maybe has somebody think about calling people who smoke a little weed awful names and consider them bad people. Just like with having a couple of drinks (which I haven't even done for ages), this can be done responsibly and actually do some good. I don't have it all over my house either. It's very guarded and kept far away from the dog and bird. My house is somewhat large so if you walked in my house you'd never know, so it's not like a drug den or something similar imagined by the Reefer Madness bunch. ![]()
