Flying with a Kindle

This is probably a dumb question but I haven't flown in a very long time. I know you have to turn off all electronics until after takeoff but is there some way to power off a Kindle or do you just turn it off as usual and leave the wireless turned off? Thanks! I hate to fly and I am worried about everything!
