I agree our flag has taken on a different meaning these days and some people even publically fly them upside down. I don't think it was meant to be displayed that way, but to each their own.

@Lakelife62 NO! "but to each their own."  Upside down of our flag shows total disrespect for our country and our democracy.

Nope - it's a sign of distress.

True, that is what it originally meant until.....  Things have changed.  Have you not watched the news in years?

Re: Flying Your Flag for Memorial Day

We need to buy a new flag. Normally I fly seasonal flags that say things like "Welcome Spring", and put out the US flag for patriotic occasions like Memorial Day. Unfortunately, ours had frayed and I failed to replace it. Will be sure to have a new one for Flag Day.

@nwbabs  Our flag is displayed on a large white pole in our front yard surrounded by solar lights.   We do not take it down and store it away until after veteran's day.

I have the flag the veterans draped on my father's coffin when he died (not in the war).  He served in the Navy in Iwo Jima in World War II.  It's really large and a heavy material.  If I had somewhere to fly it I would.

Lol, there you go again. How and why you get away with constantly insulting the intelligence of other posters here is beyond me. It's supposedly against forum rules.

Well, just yesterday there was a thread that proved my point. If people find stating facts insulting, then it hit a nerve for a reason. There's an old saying that comes to mind - "truth hurts".

Absolutely hilarious, especially after the things you said yesterday. Your "truth" is not THE truth, hate to break it to you.

No nerves hit, so you can stop patting yourself on the back.

I agree.  Also people can fly our flag upside down but people cannot kneel.  Shaking my head.  Having a flag upside down is totally disrespectful.
