Sorry, but I feel that mixing the Flu Vaccine with the Covid Vaccine is a big mistake on their part.  Some people can't take the Flu shot, so that will cause people to not get it.

I have done neither and don't plan on it either.

I also am leery of getting those shots at the same time, or NEAR the same time!  I got my 2 Covid vaccines in April, and will probably get the regular flu shot in Sept. or Oct.., and then make a decision about the Covid vaccine booster after that.

@Duckncover    My local Walgreen's has three appointments available for today and a fully open appointment schedule for tomorrow.

I don't think combining the two vaccines is a good idea. I would think people would have already gotten a flu shot before boosters become recommended.

DH and I get our flu shots every October and plan to take it again this year.

The flu shot is available in my area. Last year my dr told me that getting it early was not a problem, and was a good idea because of covid. I got it in September.

I will ask my doctor's opinion about this year.

Personally, it's way too early for us.  The earliest we go is October.

I heard yesterday they want to mix the flu shot and covid together.

If they do, we are out and won't be getting it.

@CelticCrafter, what you may have heard is that Moderna has started phase 1 and 2 clinical trials for a mRNA vaccine for seasonal flu.  If they are successful with that clinical trial, they will look at combining both the covid and flu vaccines together on in the future.

There are currently no plans to combine a traditional flu vaccine and the covid-19 vaccine together into one injection.

It is exciting that they are working on the mRNA vaccine for influenza, but the clinical trials are just now starting to take place.

@pitdakota

Can you point me in the right direction to read data regarding the Booster for immune suppressed people. I am supposed to get it but I would like to know more.

Currently Covid boosters are only recommended and available for immunocompromised people. But they are expected for the general population in the fall to help us fight Delta and any other variants circulating by then.

Technically, there is no covid-19 booster for anyone although it is commonly being referred to by many as a booster.

We have known since the beginning of the covid vaccination drive that those that are immunocompromised or take any type of medications that suppress the immune system will not get  the antibody response to a vaccine that others would.  As they now have clinical data that substantiates that information in conjjunction with high transmission leveld due to the delta variant, they have added a 3rd full dose vaccination into the process for those individuals.  So for those that are immune suppressed, they need 3 vaccines to achieve a better antibody response with the vaccine.

They are currently monitoring antibody levels in other vaccinated individuals as well as monitoring contact tracing information to assess the need and then timing for a "booster" for other vaccinated individuals.

@pitdakota, funny you should post this. After reading it here, I googled and found out exactly what you said.
