It seems like the world completely stopped what they were doing and opened their hearts and reached for their wallets after Hurricane Katrina, and last year’s earthquake in Haiti. How come with the flooding in Nashville, and now in Australia, the mass populous seems not to care? The media has only reported on it a little and these events were just as devastating, costly and have cost many people their homes, livelihood, and lives yet there seems to be such a lack of concern.
My opinion is that these events seemed to affect more people from the middle class who would rather roll up their sleeves and work on putting order back together than wait for the government to swoop down and save them.
