My thoughts too.
I have heard this theory too....and added to it, the pilot(s) put on his own air mask, then lowered the oxygen in the plane gradually, so no one fought, they just went to sleep (remember, it was nighttime, a "red eye" flight, so most planes turn off the lights for the passengers to sleep) and everyone died (this is why there were no cell phone calls of something bad happening)...then he flew to a location and the plane could be used by terrorists in the future.

I have thought all along that something like this happened......but who am I to say.......I did say this in the very beginning of all the posting on this subject.
It's odd that there has not been anything to come to the top, and no signs of any fuel that has been lost, etc.
But oh my, those families are surely very sad and don't know what the heck has happened to their family member (s).

And the fact that one of them tried to use their own cell phone and couldn't.

This hasn't been the best organized search in the world. There have been multiple satellite images of debris floating in the ocean, but before they could be thoroughly explored they decided the plane probably never flew that far south, so they moved the search box farther north and heard the pings. Once they heard the pings they forgot all about the debris fields. But from what they said, the currents there would have carried the debris south to where it was spotted if the plane had crashed where the pings were heard, so it's entirely possible there's ample evidence of the plane impacting the water and leaving a big debris field but they aren't looking for that any longer.
Now, the novelist in me (and this is completely fictional) would like to think that a government (likely ours) lost something (experimental plane, drone, missile, submarine, etc.) in that part of the ocean and needed an excuse to launch an all-out search mission to recover the missing object without being obvious that we were looking for whatever we lost. It's been shown that dedicated hackers can remotely take control of many of the functions on modern cars given enough time to find a way to exploit vulnerabilities, so why couldn't the NSA hackers remotely take control of a civilian jetliner and crash it in the neighborhood where they think the other missing item is located? In comes the Navy with their side-scan sonar and remotely operated vehicles to find the plane's wreckage, only that's not what they're really looking for. We can justify having a large naval presence there searching for the missing jetliner while they're really looking for whatever else it was that was lost. We look like heroes coming to the rescue to find the missing plane when we're not really looking for it, but for whatever else it was that we lost. We've already shown that we can salvage a Russian missile boat (Project Azorian) from three miles deep in the Pacific, so if we lost one of our own, chances are we'd try to salvage the sensitive equipment from it before it could fall into an enemy's hands. I like to think our government wouldn't kill a few hundred innocent civilians to cover up a search operation, but you never know. Once again, this is completely fictional, but as out-there conspiracy theories go, it's not that unreasonable.

I don't think that plane ever crashed....its somewhere on land...there is a big cover-up going on that we won't know about till ""they"" are ready to disclose it.....just too many strange happenings regarding that plane from day one.....

In this day and age, nothing is impossible.
