I always call them the mail person because some day's it's a man, and other day's it's a woman.

@Lipstickdiva@lovescats & others:
that would have been a "easy" solution but would have been a 18+ hour drive but then again could have stopped to see my family in NJ!

I call them "mailperson" too. I have had both genders and "mailwoman" sounds awkward to me. I like that one term covers everybody.

I was able to understand your post. I think it would worry me how my name was on the label. It's so random.

As far as the shipment is concerned, if you didn't order the stuff, you can keep the stuff and you can't be charged for the stuff. That's the law.
How the stuff got to you with anothr person's namd and address clearly on the package is the Postal Service's problem. Maybe the mailman got tired of being called a "mailperson", and just dropped the stuff off.

Your advice about being able to keep merchandise you received, but didn't order, is not entirely correct.
The law you refer to, is designed to protect consumers from fraud. You receive, an item, had not ordered it. When you contact the company about returning, they try to coerce you into paying. They say you did order, and if you don't pay, they'll notify the credit bureaus, file suit, go for garnishment, etc. Scare tactics, that some consumers, fell for.
That's illegal.
A error in shipping, is an error. Mistakes happen, they're not illegal. No one is trying to coerce you to pay for the item, there's no fraud, just a mistake. In that case, you can't legally keep the item. If HSN, had said," OK, we'll get that picked up, or we'll get you a label to ship that back, no charge, of course", you would need to return it.
Since HSN said keep it, then, the OP can, and do whatever she'd like with it.

@SeaMaiden---she was a manager--and I offered to go to another cashier for a do over but she waved me away----she is still there in that capacity too. Pretty sure if she did this alot she wouldn't be there still---this store opened about 10 years ago and she was there then.

This has happened to me twice in the past 6 months with QVC. The package was addressed to me but the invoice/order inside had correct person's name on it.
I was happy to return so the correct recipient could receive her order.

I had this happen with hsn many years ago. I was terribly disappointed in the CSR, when I called, because they just said 'send it back'. I asked 'what about the person who ordered these items?'. I was told that that 's their problem and when they don't get it they will call.
I didn't like that one bit so I just slipped a note in and shipped it to the customer myself. I'm glad they are going to go ahead and send that person their order for you!
Progress, I guess? hehe
@chickenbutt, that's because that wasn't made clear in the original post. It was later clarified.

Hey LD! Thanks for straightening me out on that. I apologize for mis-reading things. I think I jumped right on it because I related, having had the same scenario happen so I saw the same thing right away.
Hope this finds you well. ![]()

FYI: It was stated in my "original" post I received my order day before.
