WOW! I guess I won the kewpie doll , then, beating Alaska !

Is this the time of yr. when Alaska stays dark all the time?

I've seen shows on that, don't understand it   LOL

I just know what I've seen on TV. Polar bears and iced over lakes, etc.

Bet you got plenty of good fish eating up there, though !

@SharkE ~ Winner winner, chicken dinner! 🍗

Right now, the sun is rising at 9:11a and setting at 6:14p. The long summer days and long winter nights are a result of summer and winter solstice.  You can Goggle to find out why it stays light so long during summer, and the short daylight during winter months.

The seafood is exceptional, especially the (red) king crab!

Has your snow meltd, yet?

You all will be in line around Jan-Feb

When I lived up in Ind. my b'day is 12-23 and it was always iffy if

I would be able to go out for dinner at a she she restaurant where you

have to make reservations.

I'd get all spiffed up and put on my 'good' jewelry la de da and husband would say We're not going, icy roads , forget about it eat what's in refrig

wahhhhhhhhhh

Jan and Feb was feet (s) LOL of snow, mail couldn't get thru had to wait for a melt to get to Walmart, any appointments with Dr.'s or hairdresser have to be cancelled. Library pick up dvd's and books have to wait till I could get to them.

DH fell on his bum getting to the car on sheet of ice and threw hip out had to go to chiropractor for treatments.

one yr. mailman was drunk knocked down our mailbox guess he got to much eggnog. poor DH had to go out and try to rig up something till he could bang a new post in the ground when ground thawed.

Squirrel got 'fried' when he bit into the electric cable, there went the electricity, power up the generator, place call to power folk, they would

say 'get in Q' so we bundled up and did the best we could.

we had to go out and bring in wood for the wood burning furnace because DH didn't want to pay for gas to run it. keep it stoked all day long, downstairs would be cool, but, the upstairs was hot. LOL

this was 10 yrs ago, now, we're in Tx, home heating gas is reasonable, so, he keeps thermostat on 68, but, I'm not cutting trees down, splitting the logs to fit unto the log splitter and running that noisy thing, putting split wood in barn, stacking it up, then , bringing it in as you need it

Then you had to clean out the ashes every so often.   Kept you in shape I guess, but, I don't miss it.

Sometimes water line would freeze at the meter, so, you had to go out and put blanket down over the meter in the ground to warm it up, we had all pipes electric taped wrapped, etc.

Yep, Tx is where we headed ! No more living like the Waltons LOL
