@Kachina624 You are right. The devastation is prime time news, but for those who have lost homes, the challenge is just beginning. Heart breaking.

How did this fire start?

Don't forget the 'camp fire' in Butte county. 27K - all of Paradise had to evacuate. Town is GONE! Heavy smoke everywhere. 5 deaths, thus far. 70K acres burnt.

I live in north Oxnard - and the fires, I believe, started in Camarillo - a few miles east of my house. Then it headed further east to Newbury Park, Thousand Oaks, Oak Park (I lived there before moving to Oxnard), Agoura Hills, Westlake Village, Calabasas,Simi Valley. These cities are all small and close to each other -- lots of hills/mountains surrounding the homes/businesses. Most everyone had to evacuate yesterday or today. Even the Kardashians - who live in Hidden Hills/Calabasas - had to evacuate. Many people have dogs, cats, chickens, horses - which make life challenging. Last year, the Thomas Fire started in Santa Paula - a few miles north of my house and wound it's way to Ventura (a few miles west of my house) - all the way to Santa Barbara/Montecito.
I'm familiar with all these areas - and watching so many houses, small business centers, cars/trucks going up in flames on the news - is heartbreaking.
There aren't enough firefighters - or resources - to handle this disaster or law enforcement to handle the traffic. There are more fires 2-1/2 hours east of my house in the Riverside County area. Many people are driving on roads that are literally burning in the distance. They eventually had to turn around.
I know God - and my mother - are watching over me - as I just couldn't leave my house with my little dog in tow. When I look at the sky - on one side, it's clear blue -- on the other it's filled with dark smoke.
Hope everyone dealing with the various fires are SAFE!!!!!

Yes, I should have also mentioned the fire up north. It is horrendous.

@sidsmom The only good I can see about this devastating situation is that Rick Roll is such a super star athlete that he can handle the physical challenges of being misplaced from his home (probably now that is the least problem on his mind). Difficult times for everyone in these major fire areas, the wind has been exceptionally high the last two days and that doesn't help. Of course, we all wish that the impact is minimal for everyone regardless of status. Unfortunately, homes/lives in northern California already lost.

On their InstaStories, they both filmed being evacuated.

Losing a home is devastating for everyone - but RICH people usually have several beautiful homes -- or access to renting large homes - and lots of people in their inner circle who deal with the insurance co. and rebuilding. For the average person --- it's a nightmare.

It is just so horrifying and heartbreaking for all the living things in it's destructive path.
I pray for it to end for all of you, @suzyQ3. I wish I thought that my prayers would help and I pray because I don't know what else to do.

@suzyQ3- I was thinking about you, while watching the coverage on TV, as I know this is your home state. Keeping you and all others affected by this in my thoughts and prayers.
We need a very long stretch of good news. ![]()

During the Santa Rosa fires last October, Dr. John McDougall & Mary
lost their entire home. While at temporary residence, he fell & broke
his leg. Fast forward 6 months, he announced his retirement.
He did weekly webinars for years...and you could tell a lot weighed
on his mind. You could visibly see the stress on his face.
It’s like one tragedy started the domino effect.
So sad for everyone.
