Re: Fires and mayhem in SoCal

@kivah, As lori G. would say-----Layer, layer, layer,

Don't know if I mentioned it but I bought Martha stewarts garden clippings bags they are supposed to hold hundreds of pounds. I figure I could throw what I could grab and drag the bags to the car.

Right now all the hotels here are filled wilth LA people, so it had better stay quiet for a while.

It is very cool and nice today. I am done with the heat.

xoxo, henny

@hennypenny

Today I'm wearing one of those stretchy short-sleeved tops under my grey pull-over sweater. A bit chilly!!!!

Re: Fires and mayhem in SoCal

My daughter reminded me today that her father, my ex husband, lives in Paradise, CA.  Since I don't think about him it didn't register when I first read about the fire there.  She showed me the picture of the huge beautiful house he had but since he hasn't communicated with her since he married for the fifth time many, many years ago and had another child, she has no way of knowing if he is safe or if his house is still standing.

Knowing that over a thousand people are missing and remains cannot be identified due to the tremendous heat from the fires, leaves me heartbroken.  I cannot find the words to express the horror and sadness I feel for all the lives effected by these fires.

Re: Fires and mayhem in SoCal

I visited Los Angeles last weekend.  My friend's son plays college basketball and his team was playing at USC.

My friend and I took the train/subway to Santa Monica on Saturday.  As soon as we got walked off the train, the smell of smoke hit us full on.

Watching it on TV and knowing how close we were ... just so heartbreaking for all residents of CA.  And on top of that the shootings just days before ... HeartWoman Sad

Re: Fires and mayhem in SoCal

@Lindsays Grandma, I can only imagine your daughter's distress, along with so many others. I hope her dad managed to escape and survive with his current family.

Here's a list of those yet missing from the Camp fire:

https://www.buttecounty.net/Portals/24/CampFire/BCSO%20UNACCOUNTED%20FOR%2011-15-2018%20PM.pdf?ver=2...

According to our local news, the last total count of those yet unaccounted for was 1,276.

None of us can possibly express our horror and sadness at such devastating destruction and loss of life.

To make matters worse, Norovirus is striking survivors hard in the shelters.

My prayers are with all those impacted by these tragic disasters.
