Re: Fires and mayhem in SoCal

As i watch the news it's so hard to even comprehend what I am seeing.

My thoughts and prayers for all those affected.

@PamfromCT

I totally agree. I keep thinking of those very strong, brave firefighters running into fire areas -- breathing that toxic air. YES - our governmental agencies need to figure something out FAST - otherwise these California fires will continue every year. I'm sure other states in the US will also deal with similar devastation.

Excuse Me - we're NOT all the same. I have NOWHERE to go and I couldn't afford to rent another place - and deal with the insurance company - and rebuild. Life for the RICH is totally different.

@kivah

Ok...one more time I said,

I would never, ever discount someone’s Life’s Event based

upon their bank account.  Human stress is just that...stress.

It’s a nightmare for everyone.  Empathy would tell one that.

Yes, certain people might have the means to live differently when

recovering from tragedy, but at the end of the day, we all are the same.”

“Before I give you my thoughts & prayers,

I need to know how much money is in your checking account”

...says no one EVER.

As desperate as one might feel, there is always someone

less forunate than you. Empathy deals with the stress.

My spiritual side says no one is different when it comes to the

stress of a life-changing event. Unfortunate there’s divide.

I feel sorry for everyone, including yourself, who has to

deal with this stress of not knowing what the future holds.

I think what the point is @sidsmom is someone with 5 million in the bank does't need proceeds from a telethon and 5 million is probably on the low end of the spectrum. Yes, they have suffered if their home and all its contents burned and hopefully all of their valuables were insured.  But to give someone who is wealthy money when they have plenty to rebuild, although maybe not in the splendor they once had, would be a travesty.  Same with the K family.  Kylie with her 900 million and Kim with her 200 million hardly need money from anyone.

Just checked on my lifelong friend in La Cañada, outside of LA and they are ok....for now.

This picture is not fabricated.  Those huge jets fly that low to drop the fire retardent. It's absolutely mind-boggling how the fire departments coordinate and handle all of it.  It's too bad that we live in a society where the people who risk their lives to save ours are not compensated accordingly.

There are far more people that aren't wealthy ,needing help ,than those that are. Why focus on the wealthiest end? It is by far the smallest group of people, and I doubt they will take it. They are insured, most likely and independently wealthy

Don't you think  people that organize things like a telethon understand that?

This is just a red herring , deflecting the need of many, and concentrating on those that don't need help

These people are really suffering, show them some compassion

I wasn’t talking about a telethon.

Stress does not = money.

I saw where American Red Cross is teaming up with a TV station

to do a telethon. I have no idea if the American Red Cross

has stipulations on who, with a certain bet worth, can receive

their funds.  Is there such thing?

But no matter if there’s a telethon or not...it has nothing to do

with the stress of this catastrophe.

How people, all people, handle stress...that’s the great equalizer.

The ‘richest’ people I know are the most spiritually grounded.
