I just heard a news report on the horrific nursing home fire which all news outlets have reported as being in "Pennsylvania".  However, this report showed a mayor saying, "We're not used to dealing with large fires in West Chester".  So the Fire was close to "home", so to speak.  The staff should be commended for getting all those people out safely.

I did see video of this (with the sound muted so I didn’t hear details) and the captioning onscreen did say West Chester.  I imagine it could have been seen/heard/smelled at QVC.

Barclay Friends Nursing Home is only about four miles (ten minutes) from QVC.  The firefighters, staff, and neighbors did a great job evacuating and caring for residents, many of whom were wheelchair- or bed-bound.  The temperature was in the low 40's. The fire was reported around 11 pm and brought under control by 1:30 am, though it was still smoldering yesterday.  Arson is suspected as some have reported hearing an explosion just prior to the fire.  The structure is relatively new (ten years or so) and had the usual fire suppression infrastructure.

@Kachina624   There was a fire in Amarillo Fri. evening over on the North side burned 400 acres. We've been having winds like crazy. Never said what started it. Just said 'it was thought it got started from a drainage ditch".

I bet some idiot flipped a cig out the window of their car. Old man and his wife escaped their mobile home, but, their pets and birds burned up.

I'm always glad when it gets cold keeps the crazies indoors. No grilling, etc.

@SharkE   Some of those roadside fires are caused by the catalytic converters on cars that pull onto dried grass.  They were talking about grass fires here on TV this week as its so dry.  No precip since Oct. 5th.
