We used ours a lot at the log home up North in the woods.

Now that we sold that place and live in our desert house, we haven’t used the one we have here yet.

We have a gas fire pit and have never used it. This is crazy I know but we have blue belly lizards and I think they live in the fire place so I won’t allow anyone to to turn it on. I love when in the spring they come out of hibernation. It means winter is over.

Here's an unpopular idea about fire pits.  Your neighbors may really hate you for it if they are within distance to smell it and you use it constantly.  My neighbors have one and they use it so much that I cannot open my windows on every single nice day.  I do mean every day, so it's a real nuisance to me.  It's aggravating and the smell gives me headaches.  I really wouldn't mind it now and then because people should enjoy their property as they see fit, but every time?

We have one of the portable ones that you can move around. Although we love the idea of having a fire and sitting by it, I must admit we only use it a few times each year. I don't know why, I guess we just never think of it.

My thought is the same as @Glittergal .  We have a neighbour with one and the smoke comes right to our windows.  P,ease be mindful of your neighbours.  I live on a large country lot and, yes, it is still an issue.  LM

Oh absolutely! In our old house, in the city, we had a chimnea that we'd use alllllll the time! We permanently build one in extended out from our stone patio at this house. We sit nightly and watch the boats go by! Love it! Heart
