Re: Fire at QVC’s NC distribution center

It is a small town, this will hurt. Glad there no injuries. ♥️

The employees will be eligible for Unemployment Insurance.  If the labor market there is like it is many other places, they won't have trouble finding other jobs.  There's quite a bit of industry in that area.

@SurferWife  We found out right off the bat that no one was hurt. So, I don't think it's so "disgustingly selfish" to be concerned about orders and returns. But I do think there is no need to be so judgemental about people just airing their thoughts.

@Pearlee  LOL. It's incredible that these words are coming out of your mouth.... You, who considers herself to be the board judge.

Terribe news.

Glad everyone is safe.

@threecees  - what did Jane say on air?  What prompted her to start talking about it?  Did she make an announcement?

@San Antonio Gal Jane read the statement posted on here regarding the

fire and safety and well being of employees. Very brief announcement.

From TV station WRAL:

While QVC officials said that everyone inside the center made it out of the building safe, the sheriff's office is investigating a report of a one employee who is missing.

Re: Fire at QVC’s NC distribution center

I feel bad for the families who will have loss of work.  The rest of the stuff is material.  A building can be rebuilt, the contents of the building can be re-made or re-purchased.  Q has sufficient safeguards in terms of insurance so that they don't take much of a loss.  I can't say the same about the employees.

If I'm correct I think a lot of their jewelry comes of out this warehouse.  This incident is like some kind of strange message to me.

For almost one year I've been debating about buying a certain pair of earrings I love, I already have too many to count, probably a lot more than 100 pair.  I've gone to order them a couple of times and stopped.  Then, with all the jewelry being aired yesterday I impulsively decided to do it and I ordered them last night. .

I don't think I'm meant to have these earrings, now I don't want them.  Maybe I'm becoming superstitous.

It's also strange this happened at the exact time QVC is finishing up shipping all their orders in time for Christmas.  What a coincidence, or maybe not.

Most important, these poor employees and their families, and just before Christmas.  Another terrible disaster, it will affect this entire area, seems like there's one every day now.

Re: Fire at QVC’s NC distribution center

This was posted at top of main page for those concerned about orders placed.

It makes sense if you're  concerned about a package imagine how concerned the owners/investors are for the welfare of its workers and how this tragedy happened.  This certainly will impact them financially.

As for those employees who were displaced perhaps Q would generously pay them until the unemployment benefits come it takes weeks to receive or some type of compensation, of course no details have been given at this time.  Our news did not report a full story if people were working at the time.

We can speculate, but, right now I feel patience & understanding is really needed.  No sense getting upset over a gift (or package) not received by Christmas -- life is more important!

Living about 45 min from there, as I do, your first post #28 on this matter was more accurate.

Not a lot of industry, what is available is mostly skilled direct service.
