[ Edited ]

One person was injured when a fire broke out at Macy’s flagship store in Manhattan on Saturday night.

The fire was under control less than an hour later, as one person suffered a minor injury and was taken to Lenox Hill HealthPlex.

The blaze was under control less than an hour later, according to the FDNY.

One person in the store suffered a minor injury and was taken to Lenox Hill HealthPlex, officials said.

The fire broke out on the main floor of the store.

It wasn’t clear how it started, the fire department said.

It's good this didn't start when no one was there.  I'm sure they have fire alarms and sprinklers, but what good did they do for QVC?

@Foxxee I was watching the Highway Thru Hell on the Weather Channel this weekend.  Last night they had a  semi truck burning on the side of the Coquihalla Highway, in British Columbia.  It apparently had burned overnight and was still flaming the next morning.  After they poured water from a water truck on the remains of the trailer, they reported it was loaded with textiles.  Recovery efforts to remove the now destroyed truck and trailer throughout the day continued into the night, with the fire reigniting everytime they tried to do anything with the wreck.  I wonder if that is why the sprinkler system couldn't put the fire out?  Thankfully, Macy's fire was contained early.

What's next?  I think the fire in a Bronx apartment complex that killed 19 people of which 9 where children and dozens injured mostly from deadly smoke takes precidence over a fire at Macy's.

The fire was cause by a faulty space heater and the residents of that apartment had their door open, allowing the black billowing and deadly smoke to fill the hallways.
