@GenXmuse - I'm so sorry to hear that.

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?

It's sad about what's going on with the economy right now.  Just heard on the news it will be getting worse with higher prices to come.

It's all in the plan from certain officials.  So very sad.  Not necessary to bring most everyone down.

It's all in the plan, who is telling you that conspiracy theory?

Yes.  The invention of the IRA was questionable, IMO.  If we keep a roof over our heads and can pay utilities I will consider things a success.

Heaven help us if we have serious health issues.

@deeva

May I ask what type of financial advisor you have - hourly paid or fee based?

I feel I have been used by financial advisors recommending products under the "stamp" of being a fiduciary.  Later, it appears questionable decision.  We thought we understood the product but not so.  My heart is extremely heavy today as we see money being lost and security questionable as I have tried to be so careful.

@Twins Mom   I am not deeva but we have a financial advisor. Our fee is based on how much money we have invested with them.  The firm we work with is owned by one man, but the money his clients invest is funneled thru a large financial firm - keeps everything above board.

We have made money and lost money but overall we have earned a decent percentage each year.  We have two meeting per year - and we can call anytime if we have a question about something or want to make a large purchase, they will discuss it with us.

They make sure our wills and power of attorney forms are up to date, they look over our life insurance as well.  And as I mentioned earlier in this thread, we do a budget every year, it is an overview of what we spend.  From that budget they figure out how long our money will last.

The advisor is ranked in the top 100 in the state. We totally trust them.  We have friends that handle their investments on their own and my father did as well, he fell ill and LOST almost all his money.

Oh gosh, @GenXmuse .  That's terrible news, and I'm sure that even with the best of intentions, nothing will salve the wound.  I hope you keep posting so that at least this community can give you a place to talk.
